Canada’s beloved garden and craft brand returns — with the same heart, now replanted for a new generation.

White Rose Crafts & Nursery was a Canadian company with a legacy rooted in passion, resilience, and a love for growing—gardens, creativity and communities. Originally founded in 1957 by Alexandre Raab, a French-trained horticulturalist and Holocaust survivor, White Rose began as a humble nursery on a ten-acre plot in Unionville, Ontario. From those modest beginnings, it blossomed into one of the largest and most innovative retail garden and craft chains in North America.
Driven by the Management Team — White Rose pioneered a new era in garden and crafts retail. It became the first Canadian company to mass merchandise nursery-related products under one roof, combining plants, tools, soil, fertilizers and crafts into a single retail experience. By the early 1990’s, White Rose had grown to 42 retail stores in Ontario and Quebec and hundreds of acres of growing facilities across Canada, the United States of America.
White Rose was not only a business—it was a community hub and a trusted resource for gardeners, hobbyists, and families. The company introduced many firsts to the horticultural industry, including the development of Iron Plusfertilizer, which revolutionized soil treatment, and the importation of cold-hardy French rose rootstock that allowed for more resilient Canadian blooms.
Today, a new White Rose brings back the best of the past, with the timeless values that made Canadians trust us for our Nursery and Craft products. We offer thoughtfully curated garden seeds and craft kits for Canadians who cherish beauty, creativity, and the joy of homegrown living.
White Rose…Beautiful.
